The Grace of God Defined

What is Grace?

I'm sure you guys have heard of it whether you are a Christian believer or not but a lot of us (even Christians) have a misconception on what it truly means and what it looks like to walk in God's grace within our lives.

Here is the basic definition of what Grace is :

The Grace of God is a gift that is not worked for but is freely given. There are different ways that God's grace can be applied to our lives but we are going to focus on the grace of salvation. The grace of salvation means that no matter what mistakes you have done in your past life of sin, once you sincerely repent, the grace of God will take away the punishment and guilt and replace it with love. The love of God is like no other because it is everlasting and will not be taken away from you even when you mess up, you will still be able to reconcile and return back to Him.

"In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace (Ephesians 1:17)."

Although this is what God's grace means to many, people seem to misunderstand it and, in turn, abuse it. Yes God's grace is sufficient and His love is everlasting but what we seem to miss is that the chances we have to make it right with God is not always going to be there and just because you know you will be forgiven every time does not mean you should still be living your life in sin.

As long as you are living there is hope

We have many chances to make it right with God while we are living but that time runs out when we die; I know it's morbid to say and think about but it is the truth. The Lord says to seek him while he can be found, which indicates that there will come a time where we cannot find him anymore like when we die or when Christ finally returns to judge the world. That is why it is important to live our lives according to what is the good and acceptable will of God, as it determines the outcome of how we will spend eternity.

"Turn to the Lord before it's too late. Call out to him while he's still ready to help you. Let the one who is evil stop doing evil things. And let him quit thinking evil thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord. The LORD will show him his tender love. Let him turn to our God. He is always ready to forgive" (Isaiah 55: 6, 7).

Forgiveness is a big part of why God's love is so amazing because it is unconditional, which means that no conditions will take His love away from us. However, the Lord says not to do intentional sins just because you know you will be forgiven, "For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins" (Hebrew 10:26). Meaning, that there would be no point for the grace that was given when Jesus died if we were able to be saved and still live a life of sin, which would be like sanctifying sin.

When we accept Jesus and the grace he has given to us we become new creations in Christ, as we are born again, which means we die to sin and begin to live our new lives differently than the rest. It is important to know this and to be separate and live our lives differently because certain things we do and the way we live can make us miss heaven. God is love but He is also a fair and just God and He has said that no sin can enter through the gates of heaven. We have to be intentional with the way we live life and trust me our lives with Christ are better than anything!

"Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 10:39).

Will you be intentional? Make a decision to change your life by accepting Christ today, He is waiting with his arms wide open ready to receive you! Trust me you will never regret a lifetime with Him 😌
